Reaction to the book “Schwere Los”

Thank you for this wonderful, important book. Visually, haptically, and in terms of content, it is a total work of art. Both heavy and light in its presentation and its message.

This naturalness and openness with which illness and diminishing freedom are discussed deeply touched me. It resonated even when I felt like despairing or becoming self-pitying, even though I know better. There is so much will to live, so much defiance, so much humor. Side by side with the lamenting, sighing, and grieving – which is just as much a part of it. What a wonderful place “Rückenwind plus” is, where all of this has space.

And indeed, I had known nothing about the grievances in long-term care, which the new hospital law has exacerbated. It is heartbreakingly sad and does not surprise me. Illness, even in wealthy Switzerland, is a poverty factor and (this, however, I have known for a long time) only those with enough money and luck can bear their illness with dignity.

Thomas Gröbly’s essay on this is so important and so cleverly formulated. With every sentence, I said yes to myself: yes, yes, yes! Thank you for that!
