For years, my wife has been caring for me at home without Spitex support. She has more than earned a much-needed break. After many rejections from possible places for me to stay during this time, the ALS Clinic St. Gallen drew my attention to R\u00fcckenwind plus and recommended it to me. The very first phone call was extremely friendly and courteous, and as a result I was able to stay there from June 18, 2026 to July 2, 2026. <\/p>

Reaction to the book “Schwere Los”<\/a><\/h3>

Thank you for this wonderful, important book.<\/span><\/strong> Visually, haptically, and in terms of content, it is a total work of art. Both heavy and light in its presentation and its message. <\/p>

This naturalness and openness with which illness and diminishing freedom are discussed deeply touched me.<\/span><\/strong> It resonated even when I felt like despairing or becoming self-pitying, even though I know better. There is so much will to live, so much defiance, so much humor.<\/span><\/strong> Side by side with the lamenting, sighing, and grieving \u2013 which is just as much a part of it. What a wonderful place “R\u00fcckenwind plus” is, where all of this has space.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

And indeed, I had known nothing about the grievances in long-term care, which the new hospital law has exacerbated.<\/span><\/strong> It is heartbreakingly sad and does not surprise me. Illness, even in wealthy Switzerland, is a poverty factor and (this, however, I have known for a long time) only those with enough money and luck can bear their illness with dignity. <\/p>

Thomas Gr\u00f6bly’s essay on this is so important and so cleverly formulated. With every sentence, I said yes to myself: yes, yes, yes! Thank you for that! <\/p>

After just a few days at R\u00fcckenwind plus, I felt the magic of this institution from all sides. It is difficult to put into words, but the atmosphere here is simply unique. The nursing professionals are not only competent in their craft, they also have the ability and the time to explain things or simply to motivate. This combination of expertise and a human touch creates an environment in which one immediately feels comfortable.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

The trainees in particular contribute to the ongoing cheerfulness with their youthful freshness and enthusiasm. Their positive energy is contagious and makes the time here something special. One can literally feel how everyone is connected to provide patients with the best possible care. <\/p>

The interdisciplinary collaboration with physiotherapy and occupational therapy as well as the physician is also accessible to every patient and absolutely recommended. This networking ensures that each individual patient is viewed holistically and supported individually<\/strong><\/span>. The principle “as little as possible and as much as necessary” has built me up both physically and psychologically. It is an approach that shows respect and appreciation for the needs of each individual. <\/p>

Since the attack in the cantonal council chamber in Zug in 2001, I have been paraplegic.<\/p>

My life partner remained loyal to me despite my disability, even though this situation completely turned his life upside down as well. Thanks to him, I was and am able to live at home. In the morning, Spitex also provides additional assistance. <\/p>

We both enjoyed traveling, and he has continued to make this possible for me. Since my health has deteriorated, I can no longer travel. However, I always encourage him to pursue his travel dreams nonetheless. <\/p>

Until recently, I was able to “hold the fort” at home with additional help from Spitex. Currently, however, I must lie down due to a pressure sore. Therefore, I needed a place where I would receive nursing care and household support (meals, laundry). <\/p>

Two people made me aware of “R\u00fcckenwind plus” in Bad Zurzach. This institution fulfills all my needs. It is worth its weight in gold.<\/span><\/strong> I have already been able to reserve a place again for the time of my life partner’s next trip in the new year.<\/p>

My life partner and I have been a couple for over thirty years. Since the attack in the cantonal council chamber in Zug in 2001, she has been paraplegic. <\/p>

This event turned not only her life but also mine upside down. However, we found a common path. <\/p>

Because I very much enjoy traveling to the Sahara, it is important that my life partner gets along well during this time. Since she currently must lie down due to a pressure sore, she needed a new solution. A stay at the “R\u00fcckenwind plus” institution in Bad Zurzach proved to be ideal: The infrastructure is good, the staff is competent and friendly, and the atmosphere is familial. Beforehand, we had contracted COVID, and after our recovery I was infinitely grateful for some relief. In the state I was in at the time, I was no longer able to properly provide care for my wife. I somehow had to look after myself, or at least that is what they tried to teach me. <\/p>

I particularly value the meaningful exchange with other patients, which gives me strength and confidence.<\/p>

But what is most important to me: my husband gets a well-deserved break for at least a few weeks through my stay here and can recover himself.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

As a paraplegic, I can only warmly recommend this facility.<\/p>

Here, everything is tailored to the individual needs of the patients, rather than simply working according to guidelines. Solutions are developed together with the patient, which enables incredibly efficient collaboration. <\/p>

I am very satisfied with the care here and feel I am in competent hands.<\/strong><\/span> It is taken into account that treatment for a 60-year-old patient must be different than for a 20-year-old patient or a patient who has recently had an accident. The care is therefore very differentiated and tailored to the individual patient. <\/p>

Overall, I can recommend this facility to any patient with symptoms similar to a spinal cord injury.
\nThat is why: R\u00fcckenwind plus, friendly and supportive \u2013 almost like family, small but excellent.<\/p><\/div>

Now I have been back home for some time again. That is nice and I am enjoying it. Nevertheless, I miss the attentive and loving care from all the staff at R\u00fcckenwind Plus. <\/p>

Since the age of 5, I have been an incomplete tetraplegic due to an accident. Last spring, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Many months of chemotherapy followed. A tremendous challenge to cope with alongside my paralysis. <\/p>

The therapy left me increasingly weak. In this situation, I could no longer return to my own apartment and was very desperate that I would now be pushed off to some nursing home. <\/p>

R\u00fcckenwind plus was there for me when I urgently needed help.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Finally, I could breathe again and believe in a future. Here I feel welcome, professionally cared for, and supported according to my needs. <\/p>

I have been waiting for such an institution for a long time. R\u00fcckenwind plus gives us paralyzed individuals hope that we will not be left alone in difficult situations throughout our lives. <\/p>

After a minor surgical procedure and to relieve my wife, I spent 12 days at R\u00fcckenwind plus before Christmas.<\/p>

I was received very warmly and without complications on a Saturday. This is not to be taken for granted. Due to my amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), I am 100% dependent on assistance. <\/p>

The care was attentive and compassionate.<\/strong><\/span> Everyone fully attended to my needs and pampered me thoroughly. God willing, I will return. But then for a longer stay, so that my wife can recharge her batteries. I have already recommended R\u00fcckenwind plus to others. <\/p><\/div>

My husband has been staying at your institution for some time now. I have noticed that he has become much calmer and more balanced since then. The entire facility is very cozy, spacious, and modern, with a lot of wood used in the design. <\/p>

My husband is a paraplegic and has been 100% dependent on assistance for months due to a stroke. Now, he is able to eat his muesli independently in the morning. <\/p>

The extremely competent caregivers take a great deal of time for the clients. They adapt completely to their rhythm and needs. <\/p>

I would also like to mention the hospitality services. It is a five-star service. Requests and special concerns are addressed immediately. <\/p>

I am impressed not only by the high level of professional expertise and the relaxed daily routine, but also by the sincerely warm atmosphere in this facility. I could not have wished for a better interim solution for my husband.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/div>

My husband was received very kindly. On the 3rd day I visited him, and he told me he liked it very much. The care is loving, excellent, and all the nurses and caregivers are friendly and helpful. <\/p>

My husband suffered a stroke and is permanently dependent on assistance. He felt comfortable as a guest at R\u00fcckenwind plus AG and I was able to recover well.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

My father was with R\u00fcckenwind plus for three weeks and received excellent all-round care. Since an accident, he has incomplete tetraplegia and is permanently cared for by my mother. <\/p>

The care at R\u00fcckenwind plus was professional and loving, and my mother was able to recover from the 24-hour care work<\/strong><\/span> and recharge her batteries.<\/p>
